Report of the Nominating Committee

For the 2025 New York State Annual Meeting

Dear AAUW-NYS Members,

We are pleased to announce the candidates for two key leadership positions on our state board.

For the position of Secretary: Tracy Gyoerkoe

Tracy Gyoerkoe currently serves as the state board’s Membership Vice President and brings over three decades of experience in public education and leadership. A retired CTE Director, Tracy has a strong background in curriculum development, program innovation, and community collaboration. An AAUW member since 2009, she has held several leadership roles at the branch level, including Secretary, Membership VP, and President. Tracy’s passion for expanding opportunities—especially for women and girls—continues to drive her thoughtful, mission-focused service at the state level.

For the position of Treasurer: Janet Adler

Janet Adler is the current President of the North Shore Branch and a dedicated leader with a long-standing commitment to our organization. She brings extensive experience in branch operations, financial oversight, and collaborative leadership. Janet is known for her thoughtful decision-making and her passion for empowering members to contribute meaningfully. As a candidate for Treasurer, she offers both a deep understanding of our mission and the financial acumen to help guide us forward.

At this time, we do not have a candidate for the position of Membership Vice President.

We invite all members to join us at the Annual Meeting on June 13–14 in Albany, where you’ll have the opportunity to connect, engage, and hear more from our candidates. A gentle reminder that the AAUW-NYS Meeting hotel block at the Desmond hotel expires on Friday, May 23, 2025. And don't forget that the NYS Angel Fund is available to support anyone facing financial barriers to participation.

Your participation makes our organization stronger, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Warm regards,

The AAUW-NYS 2025 Nominating Committee

Karen Martin, Chair

Sandy Camillo, President Elect, NYS Board Representative

Lynn Gore, Kingston Branch President/Member
